MY

Personal Goals

in IBCoM Honours Programme

1

Knowing how to relax

This might seem contradictory to the nature of the IBCoM Honours Programme as challenging extra work for students. However, what I mean by ‘relax’ here is knowing how to take care of myself in stressful and unpredictable times, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This may sound simple, but actually very difficult to handle properly when there are a lot of things within my concern.

Perhaps with the amount of workload on hands, I should realize the importance of taking a break without feeling useless or procrastinating too much. This is also a reminder that I want to give myself everyday, and I hope that after the Honours Programme I would become better at reaching a healthy balance between study/work and break.

Speaking up my mind

Discussions are very important, either in a formal meeting or everyday conversation. Speaking up my mind is key to not only involve in the discussion but also to collaborate with others. During the Honours Programme I want to practice more on how to express my ideas to other people in an organized and effective way, as I often have a lot of thoughts and ideas. This is because sometimes having opinions and being able to express them in words can be two different things.

3

Getting familiar with the unfamiliar

As an international student, I find a lot of unfamiliar aspects of life and also topics in class discussions. Although it can be challenging, joining the Honours Program would be an opportunity to keep an open mind and dig deep into different information that I have never had a chance to.

A calm and smart approach to a brand new topic or issue can prevent myself from being too 'panic' at the beginning. I believe learning how to get familiar with the unfamiliar is important to expand my knowledge and be open to new way of thinking.
